What the research shows
In preclinical studies, Semax has demonstrated significant neuroprotective effects, particularly in models of ischemic brain injury, where it influenced gene expression related to immune regulation and neurotrophic pathways. Notably, Semax has been shown to upregulate brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a key player in synaptic plasticity and cognitive function. Behavioral assessments in rodent models indicate reductions in anxiety- and depression-like phenotypes, suggesting its potential as a cognitive enhancer. However, human applications remain unverified and should be approached with caution.
